5/15/2019 10:07:46 PM
Early Times Report
Srinagar, May 15: Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah said indulging in acts of vandalism and damaging property is no way helping the cause of justice for the little girl, who was sexually assaulted in Sumbal in north Kashmir district of Bandipora on May 8.
The Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Dr Shahid Choudhary reacting to violence by students said there was no reason for students to be out of their classes when proceedings have already been fast tracked.
The J&K Peoples Movement (JKPM) chief politician Shah Faesal said those who vandalised public infrastructure and broke ambulances should not be spared.
Students of different colleges, including Amar Singh College (ASC), boycotted their classes and clashed with the security forces, who responded with bursting teargas shells on Tuesday.
Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter Mr Abdullah, vice-president of the National Conference (NC) said, ''And indulging in acts of vandalism is in no way helping the cause of justice for the little girl. Using her rape as an excuse to damage property & indulge in violence is most unfortunate".
He also retweeted a tweet with a photograph of a damaged window panes of a Mall near ASC which reads ''Some highly intellectual youths decide to demand for justice by doing injustice to others..nothing can justify these students destroying other people's property...shame on you".
Dr Choudhary in a tweet said, ''In both tragic, shameful incidents whole admin, society is equally anguished. Action swift, proceedings fast tracked. So I find no reason for students to be out of classes''.
Former IAS topper-turned-politician Shah Faesal in a tweet said, "Students should go back to their classes, now that action has been taken. We are on self-destruction mode and this insane obsession with violence and disorder needs to be called out. All those who vandalised public infra and broke ambulances must not be spared.
