Police arrests Srinagar resident over Tik-Tok video spreading sectarian hatred

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday arrested a person for what they said spreading sectarian hatred online.

“Recently, a video surfaced on the popular social networking application Tik-Tok which was promoting hatred against a particular sect thereby promoting feelings of animosity and hatred between different sections of the society in the backdrop of the recent rape incident of Bandipora which had escalated the sectarian tension,” police said in a statement.

Police said that after strenuous efforts the culprit was apprehended.

Police has appealed people not to pay heed to the rumours and fake news and not to fall prey to the propaganda of such elements inimical to peace.

A case FIR 67/19 U/s 153-153A/505 RPC was registered and investigation has also been taken up at Police Station Safakadal.
