kulgam, May 16: A video, showing pipes being recovered from the residential house of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Leader and former MLA Noorabad Abdul Majeed Padder, has gone viral on social media.
According to reports, Public Health and Engineering Department (PHE) had issued around 400 pipes to a contractor a for laying pipelines in different areas of Noorabad assembly segment of Kulgam district, however the contractor instead of dumping the material at proper location, preferred to dump it at PDP Leader Abdul Majeed Padder's residence.
Hours later, National Conference Leader and former Minister Sakeena Itoo complained against the officials of PHE Department before Chief Election Officer and District Election Officer Kulgam.
"The material was lifted back immediately and matter is being probed by District Election Officer Kulgam," Executive Engineer PHE Division Kulgam, Er Nazir Ahmad told Early Times over phone.
He admitted that the contractor committed wrong by dumping the material at former legislator's residence, however said that department hadn't initiated any kind of probe or action against the officers who were supposed to ensure proper dumping of material.
Sources privy to the development told Early Times that engineers posted in Sub-Division D H Pora were favoring former PDP legislator who was a deputy minister of PHE department in Late Mufti Sayeed's cabinet.
