Difference between revocation and review
5/19/2019 11:42:56 PM
The union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh, has made
a guarded reference about Article 370 and Article 35-A and said there was need for reviewing these Acts. He said that during a detailed review it may be found out whether these provisions of the constitution ha s done any benefit to the people of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. He has not gone further in saying if these Acts have damaged people they would be revoked. This is in contrast of the BJPpoll manifesto and party president Amit shah's declaration that Article 370 and Article 35-A would be revoked. This has Been repeated by Shah during poll campaigns. This way people in Kashmir may delight with the announcement of Rajnath Singh, indicating to people that Rajnath Singh, is still considering review of these Articles. Nothing is left of Article 370 under this Article the state enjoys special status within the union of India. Under the provisions of this Article no central law can be extended directly to the state of Jammu and Kashmir without the approval of the state legislature. Over the years several hundred laws have been made applicable to Jammu and Kashmir through the approval of the state legislature. It is amazing that most of the time the state has been ruled by the National Conference and during its rule the state legislature has given it's approval to the extension score of central laws to the state. And if anybody is vocal about retention of special status to the state it is the NC president, Dr farooq Abdullah. Rajnath Singh has solved another mystery. It pertains to the holding of Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. He has said the job of holding the elections is the duty of the Election Commission of India. And still he dropped a pearl from his mouth that Assemble elections may be held after the Lok Sasha elections are completed and results are declared. This is the second mystery that the Union Home Minister has resolved. And if the BJPwins the Election it may motivate people of Jammu and Ladakh to vote for the BJPand people of Kashmir may vote for NC-congress alliance.
