3 JK mountaineers shortlisted by IMF

Jammu, May 19: Three ace mountaineers of Mountaineering Association of J&K namely Stanzin Youthog, Manik Slathia and Ambreen Fatima have been shortlisted by Indian Mountaineering Foundation, New Delhi, the apex body for mountaineering and allied sports in the country, for selection camp for Pre Everest Expedition. The selection camp will be held between June 1 and July 5,2019 and Pre Everest expedition to a peak above 7000m is scheduled to be organized in the post monsoon season (Aug-Sep). Based on the performance of the participants in the Pre Everest expedition final team will be selected by Indian Mountaineering Foundation for a major expedition to scale four prominent peaks in the Everest massif region from Everest base camp. The selected mountaineers shall also undergo Winter training during December2019-February, 2020 before undertaking the expedition to the peaks. The prestigious expedition to four peaks namely Mount Everest, the highest peak on the Earth, Lhotse (8516m), the 4th highest peak in the world, Nuptse (7861m) and Pumori (7161m) is being funded by Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports under the National Programme for Youth and Adolescent Development Scheme (NPYAD).
