Fresh spell of rain to commence in Kashmir, Himachal and Utarakhand tomorrow onward
5/21/2019 12:37:25 PM

May 21
The hills of North India i.e. Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are currently experiencing pleasant weather conditions with clear sky. Though some places in J&K like Srinagar and its adjoining areas are observing a little warm days with temperature settling near 23˚C.

At present a fresh Western Disturbance lies over North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir. This system has induced a cyclonic circulation which is seen over Central Pakistan and adjoining Rajasthan region.

Both these weather systems are likely to travel eastwards. Therefore, tomorrow we expect thunderstorm and light patchy thundershowers to commence over parts of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh, mainly towards the later half of the day.

Temperatures in parts of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh will be slightly above normal for today and tomorrow. It will come down as soon as the fresh spell of rain hits the region.

On May 23 and 24, the intensity and spread of the weather activity will increase with most parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and few parts of Uttarakhand witnessing light to moderate rain and thundershower during this period. Snowfall activity may also occur over the higher reaches of these states.

Thus, we can say that in the coming four to five days, sporadic weather activities are expected to affect the hills of North India. The intensity of these rains will not be very heavy and no major disruptions are expected. However, chances of landslide and mudslide cannot be ruled out.
