Pro-Congress alliance had a jerk with nature of the exit polls

Pro-Congress lobbies are unmindful of the near unanimous verdict of the exit polls. There was a near-unanimous verdict by exit polls. As per the verdict the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance is retaining power and majority in the 17th Lok Sabha comfortably. The range varied from 242-plus seats to 360-plus for the ruling coalition. On the day the country concluded the seventh and final phase of polling, television news networks began coming up with the figures, reminding the viewers that the results being flashed are based on responses drawn from sample voters. And those who held the exit poll talked to 40,0000 voters who had cast their votes and the verdict was based on their statement. Yes, there could be some wrong in the exit polls but when in the past several elections these exit polls proved sound why should not the exit polls feel this time sound?
Four days before the actual counting on May 23, the networks which conducted the exit polls and others who collated results suggested a broad trend - the country voted in favour of the BJP led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Opposition led by the Congress was in the band of seats between 70-plus and 162-plus, while Others stood at 104-plus to 134-plus. The unmistakable verdict was that the Opposition could not translate its campaign into votes/seats to unseat the Modi-led government. And the impression gathered by voters from the scuffle in West Bengal which has the highest turnout of votes turned the trend. The alliances between the Congress and its allies failing in UP where the BSP and SP joined hands without the Congress seems to have diluted the Congress claim.
Even before counting had begun and the results were no more Congress President, Rahul Gandhi, was in search of his alliance friends and those included some Chief Ministers and discuss with the alliance partners who could be the prime Minister of India. But the exit polls have shaken them who were planning to ensure downfall of the Government. Still Rahul Gandhi and his alliance friends were debating as to who is the proper person to lead the show. Still Rahul Gandhi is not satisfied with the exit polls and he would wish to adopt silence till the last vote is counted and the results are declared.
