PHC Letar 'ailing', doc on leave
CMO Reasi unbothered

Early Times Report

Reasi, May 21: The tall claims of Health Department about providing health services in far off areas stand exposed if one examines Primary Health Center Letar in tehsil Pouni in district Reasi which has been running without medical staff. The lone Medical Officer appointed in the health center is on leave for the last 15 days.
More shockingly, the concerned Chief Medical Officer, despite aware about the pitiable condition of the PHC has been taking the issue lightly. With the result, the patients are left to suffer.
"Few days ago a woman, who was suffering from acute pain in her abdomen went to PHC Letar for the treatment, but when she reached, no medical staff was present there except ambulance driver, who informed her that doctor is on leave for the last 15 days," sources said.
After seeing the deteriorated condition of the woman, her family members took her to Sub Division Hospital Reasi which is 15 kms from the PHC Letar, where she was given pain relief injection.
When Early Times contacted the CMO Reasi on this issue, he tried to avoid the matter by talking about other things, which clearly shows that he was unbothered about the issue.
Meanwhile, the locals have appealed the Director Health Services Jammu to take strong action against the CMO Reasi for his "irresponsible attitude" and demanded adequate staff at PHC Letar.
