| Major frauds by crorepati PWD babus go un-noticed | | | Rajesh Tandon

POONCH, May 21: The crorepati officials of PWD Department Poonch and Rajouri scripted many frauds over the years, which include laying of telecom cables, fake withdrawal under CRF and BADP schemes, SDRF fraud in which many fake bills worth several lacs were withdrawn.
This brazen corruption in PWD District Rajouri and Poonch was raised many times by various social and political people, but government failed to take action.
Sources said that huge fake withdrawals were scripted on Sanai road, Hari Budha road and all roads under non plans. Few PWD officials became lakhpati and croerepati in no time and such developments raised question mark over the working of PWD Poonch. There are also reports huge frauds took place on Sian Baba section and on Chandak Mandi road. In Mendhar, an ex legislator with the help of his goons managed to withdraw many fake bills under different schemes with the neck deep involvement of AEE PWD Mendhar.
Similar practice was reported in PWD Surankote and PWD Mandi where tainted AEE'S and JE'S remained a part of neck deep conspiracy to loot state exchequer.
Locals have raised eyebrows on government's helplessness. They have demanded inquiry to bring these sharks to book. |
