Early Times Report
Jammu, May 21: The nonchalant attitude of administration of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) can be gauged from this fact that two year ago the administration had constituted an inquiry team to look into allegations levelled against the senior faculty members. But the committee has failed to submit its report so far.
Sources informed Early Times that in April 2017, more than four dozen junior doctors had filed a joint complaint against some senior doctors and paramedical staff before the then Health minister Bali Bhagat and demanded action against them.
Bhagat had taken the matter seriously and asked the then Principal GMC Jammu to constitute a committee and submit the report about the incident as soon as possible.
Sources said though the then Health Minster had shown sincerity while ordering a probe, but when he found that his own close aide was guilty, he hushed up the case to protect him. With the result, the probe report is yet to see the light of the day.
A six-member committee had been constituted by the GMC& H administration on the orders of the minister to prove into allegation of dereliction of duty and misbehaviour by the paramedical officials with their subordinates and junior doctors.
The committee comprised of then administrator of GMC Jammu, Medical Superintendent-MCH, Personnel Officer, Associated Hospital, Assistant Medical Superintendent, Chopra Nursing Home and Matron of HCH.
"If the administration is not interested in punishing the erring doctors then why did they constitute a committee. It was nothing but an eye wash", said a junior doctor while wishing anonymity.
