Article 370 is not important as Article 35A
5/22/2019 9:00:42 PM
Azad senior congress leader, drops another pearl when he said that if BJP rules the state of Jammu and Kashmir and the centre for another 100 years it cannot relocate Article 370 and 35A. This statement follows the union a home minister, Rajnath Singh's, announcement that if returned to power the BJP may review these Articles and if found that these acts were harming people in Jammu and Kashmir these would be revoked. He did not say if people want these Acts should be retained because he was aware of the BJP poll manifesto in which the party promises to do away with these Acts. However, Azad took advantage of Rajnath's guarded statement and dropped the pearl. He should know that if the BJP retains power it may revoke these two Acts
And during the congress in the state and in the centre the ruling congress managed to get approval from the state legislature for extending the powers of the Election Commission of India besides the supreme court and other central laws There is nothing left of the special status the state has been enjoying yes, Article 35A is a matter of consideration because any rich person could purchase any piece of land. Even a rich party could purchase a big plot of land in tourist resorts and reopen a hotel. Another bad point is that those who do not have state subject certificates may get a state Government job. Others may get the admission in state run educational institutions this is quite risky when the job market is down in Jammu and Kashmir. You do not have jobs for those having state subject certificates where shall others get the jobs.
In comparison to Article 370 Article 35A is a punishment for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. This way Kashmir centric political leaders try to oppose revocation of Article 35 A instead of Article 370. Nothing will be lost if the state loses special status. If the loses special status it means central laws can be applicable to Jammu and Kashmir and those laws enacted by Parliament are people friendly. Here again the state legislature could raise its objections if any central law is detrimental to the interests of people of Kashmir.
