Early Times Report
Jammu, May 23: The board of doctors at Jammu's maternity hospital removed the pregnancy of 14 year old rape victim from Kishtwar District after she turned pregnant following the rape by Imam of Jamia Masjid Bugrana in Drabshala area of Kishtwar District.
As per the details available with "Early Times" the father of the rape victim approach the court of Principal and District Session Judge Kishtwar through his counsel advocate Touqeer Mushtaq and pledged for allowing them to remove the four month old fetus from the womb of minor rape victim.
Following the written petition filled by the counsel of the rape victim, the court directed the Medical Superintendent District Hospital Kishtwar to constitute the Medical Board of doctors to check whether it is feasible to terminate the pregnancy of the minor rape victim, considering the risk involved.
After court directions, Medical Superintendent District Hospital Kisht-war constituted the board that suggested the court that if the pregnancy of the victim will be removed, there will be no harm to her life; but at the same time showed ignorance to carry out the process as Kishtwar District Hospital lacks the facilities and if the team of the doctors without facilities goes ahead with removal of the fetus, the life of the minor rape victim could be at risk.
After taking the view of Medical board, the court order the Jammu's maternity hospital to remove the fetus from the womb of the rape victim and accordingly the process involving the termination of the pregnancy was carried out successful at Jammu hospital.
On court directions, police also preserve the DNA of the fetus of the minor girl.
