Jammu, May 25: In a significant development regarding non-functioning of government offices in far flung areas of Kishtwar like Marwah, Warwan and Dachhan, the Deputy Commissioner Angrez Singh Rana on Saturday set a deadline of one week to all the heads of the departments to make all those offices sanctioned for the jurisdiction under Marwah Sub Division within the respective Tehsil and Sub Divisional Headquarter following which action will be initiated against those who did not follow the instructions.
The issue of absent culture along with functioning of Marwah Sub Division based offices from Kishtwar town was highlighted by Early Times from time to time.
While talking to Early Times, DC Kishtwar said that he had been receiving numerous complaints about the non-existence of government offices in Marwah and same were functioning from Kishtwar town as a result of which the people of this far flung area of Kishtwar suffered badly for want of public delivery services.
He said had called a meeting of various HoDs in the district to sought out the issue. He said that he had already issued directions to SDM Marwah and Tehsildars of all the three tehsils-Marwah, Warwan and Dachhan-to get the signboards of all government offices installed so that people come to know about presence of these offices in their respective areas. The order reads: "Whereas time and again instructions with regard to punctuality in government offices have been issued by DDC for all employees and Drawing and Disbursing Officers. Whereas, it has been reported that many of the employees are seen wandering freely during working hours in the markets/streets of Kishtwar town and other areas of the district especially at Sub Divsion and Tehsil Headquarters and may be involved in business activities. It reveals that these employees being without any sanctioned leave or deputation are unauthorizedly absent from their offices/institutions.
"In order to curb the menace of absenteeism, DDC today constituted various Video Surveillance Teams which will be positioned at strategic locations of Kishtwar town and its periphery and also at Sub Divisional and Tehsil Headquarters. They shall record random videos at market places, and strategic locations/tea stalls/restaurants with high footfall. VSTs shall identify the employees and thereafter, the particulars of these employees shall be verified from concerned Heads of Offices/DDOs and the defaulters shall be dealt strictly as per rules.
"Further, directions have been passed to all the Drawing and Disbursing Officers to compile office/institution wise photo directory of their establishment and furnish the same to DC Office, Kishtwar within week's time."
