Early Times Report
REASI, May 25: The Public Works Department Reasi has allegedly stopped the road work from Bhambal to Stoti in tehsil Pouni of district Reasi which was started nearly three years ago leaving the local residents in distress.
Sources told Early Times that the work on 4.6 Km road was started in 2016-17 costing crores but after carrying out earth work the project was abandoned due to unknown reasons. Although the locals approached the concerned department urging it to complete work but all in vain.
Meanwhile a local resident of Stoti raised a structure illegally in the middle of road which is a State land ostensibly obstructing the work but department didn't take any cognisance of the issue which led to delay in continuance of work. The locals approached the Deputy Commissioner Reasi in 2017 and urged him to intervene into the matter and demanded demarcation of the road and accordingly DC directed the Tehsildar Pouni, Girdawar, Patwari who reached the spot and demarcated the road and admitted that the structure raised by the local was illegal.
Astonishingly when local residents asked for the copy of the report which was submitted to the DC after demarcation, the concerned officers denied it and made lame excuses which created doubts among the locals, they said.
They further said that the locals again approached the Deputy Commissioner Reasi and narrated the entire story as a result DC ordered to demolish the structure immediately but the officers didn't remove the structure completely. The locals demanded action against the erring officials of Revenue department and PWD who have been creating problems due to which locals have been suffering a lot as they have to travel 5 kms by foot to catch the bus.
