Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 25: Editor Early Times, Munsih Gupta, who has decided to contest the forthcoming Assembly elections from Gandhi Nagar constituency as an Independent candidate, on Saturday asked people of Jammu to come forward to empower themselves.
Carrying forward his door to door campaign in Exchange upper Gadigarh area of Gandhi Nagar constituency, Gupta informed the people about the importance of empowerment. "We need to take decisions on our own rather than allowing others to do it for us. Our leader has to be one amongst us. I have taken a plunge into politics with a pledge to empower a common man of Jammu. I am an ordinary person like you. I want to stand firm for the cause and betterment of my people, who have been at the receiving end for the past so many decades," Gupta said.
He urged people to strengthen his hands so that the "hegemony" of the traditional politicians could be challenged. "We have to make a new beginning to change the system so that we could be heard and taken seriously. We cannot walk on crutches forever. We have to stand on our own feet to bring the much needed change," Gupta added.
He said that as a journalist he has tried his best to become the voice of the people and has always sided with the truth. "We have to put our act together and become a force to reckon with. I have taken an initiative but to be successful I need your support," Gupta added.
