Jammu, May 26: Much to the delight of the people of Marwah and Dachhan areas of Kishtwar District having the population of more than 30000 are expected to get the regular mobile connectivity after more than 70 years of independence.
Cut from the rest of the world in terms of road, communication and non availability of electricity in the area, the Marwah, Dachhan and Warwan areas of Kishtwar District are remote and under develop areas of the state and remain cut of from the rest of the world for 5-6 months in winter while the people living in this area of India are very poor and are mostly depends on government ration since there were no agriculture avenues in this part of the state due to successive government failures and even Government fail to monitor the developmental activities in the area due to lack of communication lines as a result of which people living in this part of the world are facing lot of problems.
Now after hectic efforts of the government and District Administration, India,s one of the most leading telecom agency Airtel has agreed to install two mobile towers in the area at the first instance and are likely to increase the number of the mobile towers in future.
Speaking to Early Times, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Angrez Singh Rana said that necessary forest clearance and other permission required by the telecom company has been issued to them. He said that the work on installation of modern of art technology mobile tower by the Airtel in Lopara area of Dachhan will be started within few days added that by the end of the July 2019, the said Mobile tower will start functioning. He said that however installation of Mobile tower at Marwah will be completed by the end of August 2019. He said that Apan village in Marwah has been selected as palace for installation of the mobile tower. He said that these two mobile towers not only provide connectivity to the area, but will also provide internet facilities to the people which will not only help the students, unemployed youths, but also to various Government departments function in the area, perticularly to the department where the works related to Geo Tagging suffered a lot. These two towers will work round the clock even though the area lacks electricity added that the towers will work on repeaters.
In a question related to installation of tower in Warwan area, DC Kishtwar said that there is no feasibility for installation of the tower in Warwan via Marwah valley added that efforts were on to look out for the feasibility via Magran top. He said that once the area get regular mobile connectivity, the government can monitor various developmental activities beside also the daily attendance of the employees more effectively, Moreover the people could easily communicate the problems at various level.
It is pertinent to mention that BSNL though install mobile towers at Marwah, Warwan and Dachhan, but due to lack of resources and effective maintenance, all these towers had become non functional while sometimes, the local army units provide them the electricity from the generators used by them help to run these towers for few hours.
There were only few satellite STD booths that are functional in the area that provides only communication connectivity to the area which otherwise lives in stone age era.
