Early Times Report

Jammu, May 26: After worst ever debacle of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the just concluded Parliamentary elections in J&K, every worker of the PDP is asking where is Tassaduq Mufti, who was appointed as cabinet minister in the then Mehbooba Mufti led coalition government in J&K on December 18, 2017.
By ignoring all senior leaders, PDP high command had first appointed Tassaduq as MLC from Jammu quota and later appointed him as cabinet minister and given him charge of Tourism Department.
When Tassaduq Mufti was appointed as minister at cost of senior leaders, there was strong anger among leaders but PDP leadership had argued that he (Tassaduq) would be proved as asset for the party in days to come.
At this point of time, when party has faced worst ever defeat in the elections, PDP workers are looking for Tassaduq to come forward and start interaction with the workers.
Mufti is a cinematographer by profession and has worked in Bollywood blockbusters such as Omkara and Kaminey before moving to Los Angeles in early 2000. He shifted his base to Bangalore immediately after the 9/11 attack in the U.S.
On the first death anniversary of his father, Mufti Muhammad Sayeed, on January 7, 2017, he had announced his decision to join the PDP. He was fielded as a candidate for the Anantnag Lok Shabha by-election, which was cancelled over the uncertain situation in April. In May, Mufti appointed him coordinator of the J&K Chief Minister's Grievance Cell.
