Yagyopavit ceremony held at SMVD Gurukul for newly admitted 6th class students

KATRA, May 26: Amidst chanting of Vedic Mantras and performing hawan and other rituals, Yagyopavit ceremony of the 6th class students of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Gurukul, Charan Paduka, Katra, was held at this institution. In all, the Yagyopavit ceremony of the 20 students was performed on the occasion who have been recently admitted in the 6th class for the Session 2019-20. The Yagyopavit ceremony of the newly enrolled students of the 6th class of the Gurukul is performed every year at the commencement of the academic session.
Among those present on the occasion were Dr. Arvind Karwani, Dy. CEO of the Shrine Board and Administrator of the Gurukul; Deepak Dubey, Dy. CEO; Rajinder Singh, OSD, SMVDSB; Dr. Dhananjay Mishra, Principal; Dr. Devendra Rijal, Vice Principal; faculty and staff of the Gurukul besides students and their parents.
Presently, 182 students are studying from class 6th to Shastri Class Part-II in this fully residential Gurukul, which was established by the Shrine Board in 2010. They are being provided education, boarding, lodging, books, uniforms etc. by the Shrine Board totally free of cost. The Board has also made elaborate arrangements for indoor and outdoor games at the Gurukul, besides organising other extra-curricular activities for overall personality development of the students.
