Early Times Report Jammu, May 29: The J&K High Court on Wednesday sought status report in the death of Sadhaya Arora, caused allegedly due to negligence of doctors at the GMC&H Jammu. Justice Sanjay Kumar Gupta, after hearing advocate BS Slathia and others, appearing for the petitioner Pratibha Arora (mother of late Sadhaya Arora) issued notice to the respondents and sought a status report in the matter within four weeks. The case is listed on 23/7/2019. The petitioner has approached the court to seek action against Dr. Anil Mahajan, HoD Medicine at GMC&H Jammu, for "causing untimely death" of her son due to negligence." The writ petition was filed against: State of Jammu & Kashmir, through Principal Secretary; Commissioner Secretary, Health; Director Health Services, Jammu; Director SKIMS, Srinagar; Principal GMC Hospital, Jammu; Senior Superintendent of Police, Crime Branch, Jammu; Dr. Anil Gupta, HoD Medicine, GMC Jammu. Sadhaya, 28, was admitted in the GMC&H on October 17, 2016, as he had fever. It is alleged that the doctors infused four points of platelets without seeing report which showed the count was 62000. There was reaction and blood pressure was as low as 70/45, and instead of making him stable, he was referred to PGI Chandigarh. Sadhaya was admitted at Fortis Hospital Ludhiana and thereafter shifted to PGI where he died October 23, 2016. A Joint House committee also suggested that action be taken against Dr. Anil Mahajan and others who treated Sadhaya. A team of doctors also reported negligence on part of the doctors treating Sadhaya. The Crime Branch Jammu has also raised serious points of lapses. Dr. Anil Mahajan is retiring on May 31. |
