No militant killed yet, operation in progress: Police
Gunfight breaks out in Sopore Wadoora

BARAMULLA, June 11: Gunfight broke out between militants and security forces today in Wadoora village of Sopore town in this north Kashmir district, the operation is in progress with killing of no militant yet.
A police official told early times that, earlier there was information about the presence of militants in Wadoora village in the Sopore town.
Soon after the credible information in the wee hours today, the whole area of Wadoora was sealed and a joint team of security forces including army's 22 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), 177,179 Bn of CRPF, SOG and police launched a cordon and search operation (CASO) in the area.
As the forces intensified the searches, the hiding militants in the area opened fire, leading to a gunfight, and soon after the exchange of fire, internet was suspended in the area, so that militants couldn't escape from the encounter site, adding all the entry and exit points were sealed by concertina wire, the official said.
Meanwhile SSP Sopore Javeed Iqbal said that the contact has been established with the hiding militants', adding no militant has been killed yet.
Sources said that it is believed that 2-3 militants of Lashkar-e-Taiba are trapped in the area, more it can't be said that whether the militants are local or foreigners.
It is learnt from the locals that militants might have taken shelter in the residential houses, but a huge reinforcement of security forces have rushed to the spot, the firing was going on till the last reports came in, said sources.
