6/12/2019 6:56:20 PM

Srinagar, June 12: At least three jawans of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were feared martyred as militants attacked a security convoy in South Kashmir. The attack was reported at KP Road in Jammu & Kashmir's Anantnag district. At least one insurgent has been neutralised in the counter attack launched by the forces.

Apart from the death of two jawans, three other security personnel have been critically injured. The Station House Officer of Anantnag is said to be critically injured in the encounter. Four JeM Terrorists Killed in Pulwama, Two Militants Hurl Bombs at Police Station in Sopore

Preliminary reports claimed that a total of two militants launched the fire on the security convoy. The gunbattle was underway by the time this report was published.
The attack on forces comes amid a sweeping crackdown launched on insurgents in South Kashmir region.

The ante was upped against the militants following the February 14 attack in Pulwama, in which 40 CRPF personnel were martyred.

In the subsequent operations, over 60 militants have been killed, including top commanders of the Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba.
