Jammu, June 12: The Deputy Mayor of Srinagar Municipal Corporation Sheikh Imran is likely to be questioned by the Income Tax Department soon, sources said.
The sources said after department has found some objectionable content in the documents as accessed at the private offices of Imran and that he could be questioned on that front.
It is pertinent to mention that the Income Tax Department conducted search and seizure operations on June 11 on the business group based owned by Imran and his family, covering around half a dozen premises including his residence in Srinagar and private office at the Sangarmal and at some places outside Kashmir.
Official sources in the IT department said that none of the members of the business group are regular in filing their Income Tax returns.
Sources said the officials have also found some issues over the one time settlement of the loans to tune of Rs 170 crore for which Rs 70 crore have been "waived off."
"Evidence has been found that the one time settlement has been done through the active connivance of a senior officials of the said bank and that same needs to be probed," the sources said.
Sources said during the searches the evidence was also found about the sale of property worth over Rs 10 crores. "A total of such deals amounts to around Rs 20 crores," the sources said.

Soon after the IT raids at his offices, the Deputy Mayor conducted tour of Srinagar city.
"Nothing can stop me from Serving my people! Neither IT raids nor anything else. I just want to say that Mujahid was raised not killed. #IamMujahid."
