Tourism Deptt packs activities calendar for Yatri engagement, augments existing facilities

JAMMU, June 17: In order to ensure smooth pilgrimage for Yatris during the ensuing Shri Amarnathji Yatra, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Sanjeev Verma today briefed the media about all arrangements being put in place by the Tourism Department besides elaborating on engaging activities scheduled during the Yatra period for the visitors to the state.
He said that Divisional and District administrations along with all concerned departments are geared up to ensure that everything is in place for the smooth stay of Yatris in the state.
Director Tourism Jammu OP Bhagat was also present on the occasion.
Besides, efforts are under way to ensure wide publicity to the pilgrimage of Shri Amarnathji Yatra- 2019 in local and national newspapers along with displaying of welcome hoardings, information pamphlets and campaign through Radio providing all relevant details on various other tourist destinations in the region.
Further, it was informed that this year, Mobile Bio Toilets are being installed enroute Jammu to Banihal and Jammu to Pir Ki Gali at a distance of 30 Km each for ensuring hassle free movement of pilgrims from both the routes. Though, Mughal Road shall be used as an alternate route. There shall be ample Langers all along the route as per past practice. Besides, buses for pilgrims shall be lined up separately for both Pahalgam and Baltal routes at Yatri Niwas. This has been done to avoid any chaos while looking for the concerned route buses by the pilgrims. There shall be ample arrangements by the Song and Drama Division to entertain pilgrims during their stay at Yatri Niwas.
All the vehicles loading pilgrims for Shri Amarnathji Yatra shall be tagged which will help the authorities to trace them in case of any difficulty or deviation from their scheduled route. This has been done to ensure safety of the passengers.
Earlier, it was informed that the annual pilgrimage of Shri Amarnathji Yatra-2019 would commence from 1st July, 2019. The first batch of pilgrims will be flagged-off from the Yatri Niwas, Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu on 30th June 2019 by Advisor to the Governor K.K.Sharma.
Meanwhile Divisional Commissioner Sanjeev Verma today convened a meeting with head of various departments to review the arrangements being put in place to ensure smooth conduct of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2019.
The meeting was attended by, IGP Jammu, M K Sinha, Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, DIG CRPF, Nitu, Commissioner JMC, Pankaj Magotra, Director Health Services, Dr Samir Mattoo, Director Tourism, O P Bhagat, Joint Director Information, Naresh Kumar, RTO Jammu, SSP Jammu, and senior functionaries of PHE, PWD, PDD, JMC, SRTC, Traffic and other concerned departments while DC, Kathua, Samba, Ramban, Udhampur attended the meeting through video conferencing.
The officers informed the meeting that almost all the arrangements for the yatra have been put in place including accommodation, security, traffic arrangements, water, power, food, hygiene and sanitation and other necessary facilities.
The DCs informed that they have conducted visits to halting points, Langer sites and lodging sites to assess the status of arrangements there.
The Div Com asked the DCs to ensure that proper sanitation is maintained at these sites for convenience of the pilgrims.
DIG CRPF, informed about the requirements of lights in accommodation sites, arrangements of accommodation in districts en -route.
Later, the Divisional Commissioner along with DC Jammu, SSP, DIG CRPF, Director Tourism and other concerned officers, visited Yatri Niwas to inspect the ongoing works.
The Div Com took round of all the Halls and inspected the ongoing works inside the complex for providing better facilities to the pilgrims during the Yatra.
He also asked the concerned departments for installation of lights on bank of river Tawi for security reasons.
