MENDHAR/JAMMU, Jan 12: A forest fire on Monday detonated multiple landmines along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.
They said there is no report of any casualty in the blasts and efforts are on to douse the flames.
The fire broke out in the Basooni forward area in Balakote sector around 1.50 pm, causing five landmines to explode, the officials said.
The forward areas along the LoC are dotted with landmines as part of an anti-infiltration obstacle system to prevent terrorists from intruding into Indian territory from across the border.

Rajouri/Jammu, Jan 12: The historic Mughal Road, connecting Rajouri and Poonch districts with the Kashmir Valley, was reopened for normal traffic on Monday after remaining closed for a week due to heavy snowfall, officials said.
They said the road was initially reopened partially on Sunday night, allowing only those vehicles which were stranded on either side to pass through.
“On Monday morning, traffic movement was fully restored. The highway was closed for vehicular traffic due to heavy snowfall”, they said.

JAMMU, Jan 12: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has approved the up-gradation of the pay level of Panchayat Secretaries, including Village Level Workers, Multipurpose Workers and Gram Sevikas, from Level 2 to Level 4 with immediate effect.
As per Government Order issued by the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, all existing employees working in Level 2 will be placed in Level 4, irrespective of their length of service, while fresh recruitment to the post will also be made in Level 4 henceforth.
