Your child will pay for you indulging in corrupt practices: SSP Ferozepur
J&K Police officers need to take a cue, act against black sheep in the department
6/18/2019 12:43:08 AM
Early Times Report

Jammu, June 17: A top police officer in Punjab has stirred the hornet's nest by stating that "black sheep" in the police force should be put behind the bars.
"If we fail in our duty, I am responsible for it, being the SSP of the district, I publicly accept it. Any policeman running away from his duty despite drawing huge salary should be ashamed of himself. Let me tell them your child will pay for it, if you indulge in corrupt practices," said, SSP Ferozepur Sandeep Goel. He added that nothing is possible without the connivance of the police and promised to put behind the bars the "black sheep" in the force. An analyst while talking to Early Times said, "One needs to appreciate the courage of the SSP Goel. He has spoken the truth. He has made an attempt to expose the rot within the Police department." He said that "Goel's assertion should encourage the people in Jammu and Kashmir Police too. There are many honest and upright officers in J&K police who don't approve many acts of their colleagues and superiors they also need to open up and speak as the truth always prevails."
An observer said, "The Jammu and Kashmir Police force is considered to be among the best force in the country. The officers within the force should take a cue from the SSP Goel and launch a crusade against the black sheep within their department."
He said that if the police officers want they can make Jammu and Kashmir a crime free state as they remain aware about all the developments and can easily crackdown on the internal and external elements, who are hell bent upon ruining the reputation of the J&K Police. "It's unfortunate that on one hand brave jawans and officers of the J&K Police are laying down their lives for the country by taking the Pakistan sponsored terrorists head on but on the other a few people within the force are maligning the image of all the clean people in the force," he said, adding that "upright police officers need to give it thought and act tough against the black sheep due to whom the entire force is being painted by the same brush."
Another analyst said that the times are changing so are the rules of the game. "Time has come to tell people the truth. The government led by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, has already declared a full-fledged war against the corrupt people but these elements have to be identified so that they can be brought to book," he added.
