PUF effect: NC to mobilize leaders in north Kashmir
6/18/2019 10:42:14 PM
Early Times Report

Srinagar, June 18: With Awami Ethihad Party led by Engineer Rashid and the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement headed by Dr Shah Faesal joining hands for pre-poll alliance in the form of Peoples United Front(PUF) for the Assembly polls, the National Conference is set to mobilize its leaders in north Kashmir.
Sources said the top leadership of the NC comprising of the Abdullahs and their close aides in the party had a meeting to discuss the matter of how Rashid and Faesal were expanding their base in north Kashmir.
It is pertinent to mention that Rashid had taken lead in five of the constituencies of north Kashmir during the recently held Parliament elections where he came third after Sajad Lone and winning NC leader Muhammad Akbar Lone.
Sources said the party would soon call a meeting at its headquarters to decide future course of action.
Sources said some of the senior leaders from the party along with new faces would be made to be "camped" in north Kashmir to "retain party support."
Sources said a senior leader who had recently won the Parliament would be asked to take care of the north Kashmir for the party welfare and that the leader in question was likely to be assisted by his son.
"This is faction has been created to divide the vote of the old regional parties and we'll expose the plot before the voters themselves," said a senior leader on the condition of anonymity.
It is pertinent to mention that Early Times had already reported, around a month ago that Engineer Rashid and Shah Faesal would opt for pre-poll alliance for the Assembly polls.
The two had been in constant touch with each other and Faesal had provided external support to Rashid during the Parliament elections.
Pertinently both Rashid and Faesal hail from Kupwara district and have been focusing more on north Kashmir.
Despite repeated attempts the two leaders couldn't be contacted for comments.
