Early Times Report
Jammu, June 18: The impact of an Early Times report about mainstream politicians skipping the wreath laying ceremony of slain police officer in Srinagar was such that on Tuesday many political leaders were seen in hordes visiting the residence of the police officer.
The first amongst them was the PDP president and former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti who visited the residence of the slain cop. Mehbooba while condoling Arshid Khan's killing expressed solidarity with his family and prayed for their strength and patience to deal with the loss.
Mehbooba said that the unresolved conflict in Kashmir is claiming precious human lives, destroying families and orphaning children in hordes. Mehbooba pitched for the end of violence and bloodshed and hoped that the saner voices will prevail to resolve the conflict and end people's sufferings in Jammu and Kashmir.
As per the reports, there were politicians from other political parties as well who were seen visiting the residence of Inspector Arshid Khan who was injured in a Fidayeen attack at Anantnag on June 12 and succumbed to injuries at AIIMS in Delhi on Sunday.
The wreath laying ceremony of slain SHO Anantnag was held at District Police Line (DPL) Srinagar on Monday. Many senior police officials paid their homage to the slain police officer. Besides Advisor Kumar, Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Munir Khan, Deputy Inspector General and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Srinagar and others were present in the wreath laying ceremony. The officers also paid floral tributes to the slain officer. Emotional scenes were also witnessed during the wreath laying ceremony s many officers including SSP Srinagar Haseeb Mughal and other officers besides the family members of slain were seen crying while paying floral tributes to the slain officer.
Early Times had carried a detailed report on Tuesday about how the mainstream political parties deliberately remained away from the wreath laying ceremony of the slain cop, thus exposing how duplicity is ruling the roost in Kashmir's political woods.
Early Times had also highlighted how during the campaign of the last month parliament polls, NC vice president Omar Abdullah demanded separate Prime Minister for the state of Jammu and Kashmir and even promised the same with the electorate.
It was also stated in the report that how PDP left no stone unturned to dye itself in separatist colour. The PDP president in April this year even went to the extent of stating that there are apprehensions that Pulwama attack was 'fake' and a probe should be initiated so that the truth comes out. This had sent shock waves all across with people questioning how could a person who herself has been the chief minister could question the veracity of such a gruesome suicide attack and want to probe the sacrifices of 40 CRPF jawans who lost their lives in the attack.
Meanwhile, the story carried by your newspaper seems to have created a jittery among the political leaders of Kashmir and there has been a positive outcome of such attempt.
