22 year old slip to death while taking selfie in Kishtwar

Kishtwar, June 19: In a shocking incident, 22 year old youth identified as Manmeet Kumar son of Yog Raj Resident of Bhatta Palmar died after he slipped into mighty river Chenab while taking selfie.
As per the details available with Early Times, the incident took place at around 12 noon when the youth on the bank of the river tried to take selfie with him mobile phone lost his balance and fall into the river Chenab and was away in strong water currents. As soon as the incident took place, the people present at the spot raised alarm as a result of which the army from nearby 11 RR headquarter immediately rush to the spot and started rescue operation along with the local people, but fail to find the whereabouts of the youth. Soon the volunteers of the local NGO Ababeel also join the search operation by pushing its volunteers into river Chenab for search, but success continue to elude them till last report came in. The Ababeel volunteers are still leading the operation at forefront due to absence of proper divers. These volunteers with the help of the ropes enter inside the Chenab waters and are trying hard to find out the missing youth who presume to be dead. Meanwhile Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar submitted a written request to army for arranging navy divers who will help the police and local NGO Ababeel volunteers to trace out the dead body of the missing youth. He termed the incident as shocking and express grief and sorrow over the incident. He also appeal the people not to risk their lives and play safe while visiting river side or any water bodies.
