Early Times Report

Kishtwar, June 19: The poor state of education system in remote areas of Jammu and Kashmir is known to everyone.
In Government Higher Secondary School Nagbatna in Kishtwar District only three teachers are available for 300 students.
The school also lacks proper infrastructure and rooms to accommodate the huge number of students.
In order to press for the demand, the locals and Sarpanch today held a protest inside Office complex of Chief Education Office.
Pertinent to mention most of the teachers prefer not to get posted in the area and those posted either manage their attachment by using influence or get themselves transferred within no time.
The HSS Nagbatna is situated in one of the most difficult terrain of the state and it takes 8-10 hour journey on foot from nearest road, Hasti area on Kishtwar-Jammu Highway to reach the school as there is no road connectivity in the area.
Speaking to "Early Times, the angry people said that there are 300 students in the school and only three teachers are available for the students.
They said that they are being forced by the authorities to choose the path of agitation.
The threatened to block the highway if their demand was ignored.
The locals said there is no staff in other schools as well beside no medicines is available at local PHCs, Anganwari centers remains mostly locked throughout the year.
They said that they visited various government offices from time to time including that of DC and CEO Kishtwar who only give assurances, but take no action.
They said that they are being forced to agitate and called upon Governor Satya Pal Malik to look into the matter.
The locals said that a lady teacher vide order No. ZEO/D/2018/2083-88 Dated 1-08-2018 has been attached from Middle School Hangh to High School Drabshala on verbal directions of CEO Kishtwar for the last academic session, but till date she hasn't resumed her duties despite cancellation of all attachments by the government wherein General Administrative Department (GAD) has issued directions for detachment of all attached employees to original place of postings.
