| Leopard found straying on Kishtwar road, video went viral | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 25: In a dangerous precedent, some people were found taking selfies with a leopard after it strayed on a road from the forest in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir. However, the big cat was later captured by the Wildlife Department.
The video of the incident has gone viral on social media. In the video, the leopard can be seen walking along a road in Chingam village of Chatroo Tehsil.
After the animal strayed into human habitation, the big cat walked calmly on the road unmindful of the human presence. While some other people could be seen walking behind the animal and capturing the unusual sight in the mobile phones.
Wildlife officials say the animal is sick and is under observation.
"The animal is sick and is undergoing treatment at trauma centre in Kishtwar. It is under observation and is showing signs of recovery," the report quoted an official as saying.
Meanwhile, district officials have asked people to exercise caution in such a situation to ensure their as well as the safety of the animal.
Following the incident, people on social media have blamed deforestation for straying of animals into human habitation. |
