Chief guest catches police on wrong foot
Drug de-addiction rally

Early Times Report
Jammu, June 25: The Jammu and Kashmir police on Wednesday organized drug de-addiction rallies across the state but in a border district, police was caught on wrong foot when their chief guest made a weird claim about the drug-supply and suppliers.
The police unit of a border district organized a drug de-addiction rally, which after covering from main market culminated at district hospital where the chief guest addressed the gathering.
Eyewitnesses claimed that the chief guest expressed concern over the supply of drugs and the suppliers. He went on to say that whenever police nabbed the drug-addicts, they recovered only 2-3 grams of drugs due to which the drug-addicts easily got out of police net.
He asserted that he would help the police in every way to keep those drug-suppliers in the police net. "If police will find a drug-addict with 2-3 grams of drugs, then I will provide them remaining 8 grams of drugs to make a strong case against the drug-addicts so that they would not come out of police net", an eyewitness said, adding that the statement of the chief guest left police officials present on the occasion, perplexed but failed to do anything.
"From where the chief guest will get the 8 grams of drugs, either he will also be a druggist or he would have contacts with the suppliers. Police must lodge a complaint against the chief guest and should investigate his role in the drug supply in the district", an official said, adding that if the chief guest from the platform of police, has been claiming that he would provide supply of drugs, then what the police has been looking for.
Instead of taking cognizance of the claims of the chief guest, police has been trying to hush-up the entire matter to save their skin as well as the influential chief guest, having good connections within police department, sources said.
