Privileged Kashmir: Free DTH set-top boxes, additional 25 MBBS seats
Discrimination with Jammu, Ladakh continues
6/27/2019 12:36:13 AM
Early Times Report
Jammu, June 26: People of Jammu and Ladakh voted for BJP in 2014 in the hope that the BJP would fight against the discriminatory policies being devised and ruthlessly implemented by Kashmiri ruling elite with the help its cronies in Jammu and dispense justice to the people of these two regions, but all their hopes stood dashed to the ground. The BJP forged an alliance with the PDP, handed over everything to it on a platter and the result was that Jammu and Ladakh suffered and suffered huge socio-economic and political losses.
On June 19, 2018, the BJP withdrew its support to the PDP and the government fell. It withdrew support to the PDP-led coalition government for two reasons: the PDP neglected Jammu and Ladakh and the PDP-led coalition government had become a threat to national security. The withdrawal of the support to the PDP gave the people of Jammu and Ladakh to understand that the BJP's attitude had undergone a change and that it would now not allow the powers-that-be to make unjust and humiliating distinctions between Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
It was this belief of the people of Jammu and Ladakh that motivated them to vote for the BJP in the just-concluded Lok Sabha elections. The BJP scored massive victories in both the Jammu province and the Ladakh province. Narendra Modi took oath of office as PM for the second time in a row on May 30. Two days later, he constituted his government. It was expected that it would treat all the three regions equally, but it didn't happen. What happened was to the contrary. It didn't perpetrate one injustice on Jammu and Ladakh during the past 4 days; it perpetrated two injustices.
On June 23, J&K Governor SP Malik, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar and MoS in PMO distributed free DTH set-top boxes during an event held for the purpose in Srinagar. Distributing the free DTH set-top boxes among Kashmiris, Javadekar said: "These would prove to be vital in meeting aspirations of the people especially those living in border areas".
The same day, the Union Health Ministry approved additional 85 MBBS seats for J&K, taking total number of medical seats available for aspirants to 985 this academic year. The GMCs at Srinagar and Jammu were given 30 seats each and 25 additional MBBS seats were allotted to Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, Soura.
This is the BJP's concept of justice and equity. It's clear that the there is no difference between the BJP and the Congress when it comes to Jammu and Ladakh. Both are Kashmir-centric.
