Early Times Report
Jammu, July 2: Instead of serving its purpose, recently laid sewerage line near Masjid Mohalla at Sahabad Colony, has become a major problem for residents as dugup streets with construction material have caused water logging.
Locals said that against their will, the administration laid the sewerage lines. "We are not against the sewerage line but of non-seriousness of the executing agency, we had already experienced slow paced works in city", they said and added that the contractors deliberately delay the works.
"In phased manner, they dug-up your streets, and after huge gape of time sewerage network line is laid, and after another prolonged pause, they start tiles works", they said and added that it takes 12 to 18 months. "This delay on the part of executing agency makes our lives miserable", they said.
They said that water supply timing in their area is also irregular. If you miss you have to wait for next 24 hours. "Every day at 3a.m, the water comes and you cannot afford to miss it.", they said and added that the timing for water supply is like a punishment for them. "It is not possible to get up by 3a.m. every day for water", they said urging PHE authorities to change supply timing.
They sanitation in their locality has been a burning issue for a long time, but unfortunately could not addressed yet. "MLA and former Minister, Ali Mohammad Sagar who has his own house here, during his stay here you will find civic body active to maintain area but in summer life go worse here", they added. The resident said that power supply in summer also play hide and seek with them. "Unscheduled power further adds our woe, you have to spend hours together without power", they added.
