Ready for talks with Union Government
Hurriyat amalgamation weakened
R.B. Suri7/2/2019 11:15:53 PM
In the fastly changing scenario of the Kashmir valley and the views expressed by the leader of the moderate Hurriayat group led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq last week without involving Pakistan at the moment, the Union Government led by the dynamic Prime Minister Narender Modi may start a constructive DIALOGUE to defuse the Kashmir tangle once for all. After attaining of the massive and the decisive mandate from the people of India by Narender Modi and his team, a sea change is being visible in the valley. The people of the country see Sardar Patel's courage and strength in Amit Shah in all respects (who clinched the issue of Nizam Hyderabad within no time in the absence of Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru as the PM of the country). The political experts feel that the Kashmir centric leaders did not dare to meet Amit Shah during his two days to Kashmir on June 26 and 27 and the at the same time there was no call of the SHUT DOWN in the valley on his visit to the valley. It is very much relevant here that during the last 30 years as and when the PM or the Home Minister of the country visited the valley, the valley observed the Bandhs all the times and there were incidences of violence also. This depicts certainly that with the coming of Amit Shah as the Home Minister of the country, the ground situation in the valley has been changed altogether which is being considered as the good sign towards the restoration of peace and calm in the valley. There is a conclusive evidence that the Hurriayat leaders are showing their keenness to go for a meaningful Dialogue with the Central Government this time for which they were adamant earlier. This means that considering the situation as conducive one, they are becoming ready for the talks with the Centre on the Kashmir issue. From the news which are coming in the print and the electronic media, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq expressed his feelings to go for the talks with the Union Government. This he expressed while reacting to the statement made by the Governor Satya Pal Malik that the Centre is interested to talk with the Hurriayat and the Separatists very shortly. The Hurriayat Amalgamation is facing the serious crisis these days as it has been weakened to the large extent. Earlier SAS Geelani was maintaining the edge and had the all out support of the rural and urban people of the valley. Because of his ill health, Geelani has lost the control over the united Hurriayat Amalgamation. He is a rigid personality of the state and is a former member of the J&K Legislature (who always rejected the talks with the Central Government to defuse the Kashmir tangle in the past). He did not even bothered to speak to the leaders of the delegation of the All India Political Parties two years back when they had gone to meet him personally just as a courtesy call but the doors of his residence at Hyderpora, Srinagar were kept locked. With the side lining of the JKLF Chief Yasin Malik, some visible cracks are being noticed in the working of the united Hurriayat Amalgamation in the valley. It is also pertinent to mention that apart from such like things, NIA and ED have tightened their noose over the Hurriayat leaders and the Separatists in the valley over the issues of the money received through HAWALA for spreading the militancy in the state. It is also worth mentioning over here that with the coming of Amit Shah as the Union Home Minster, they got frightened and now are at the low profile at the moment. It looks wise that the Mirwaiz Umar Farooq is wise in showing his interests in holding of the talks with the Kashmiri leaders by the Central Government soon. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq may be the major force to be convinced positively on this score. Already 68 years have gone in futility and we gained nothing. The Rulers of the country from time to time must have thought for the settlement of Kashmir tangle but they failed like anything in their attempts. Now the appropriate time has come in this direction. Under the new strategy, the Union Government should take Mirwaiz Umar Farooq into confidence to settle the issue involved by motivating him positively. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq is considered to be a religious and moderate Hurriyat leader in the valley with mass base support and presently he is carrying on the legacy of his father Moulvi Farooq. And on the contrary, old leader and head of the other faction of the Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Shah Geelani is termed as the rigid one who always pleaded that whatever he says is correct and the learned people with whom he interacts, are wrong. But certainly one thing is there that he is having the good relations with Pakistan and its envoys and other embassy officials in India. He remained in constant touch with them. The Union Government from time to time was in the knowledge of the same and the our Intelligence Agencies remained alert in updating the Central Government with regard to each and every happening about the issue involved. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq always pleaded for the restoration of the free movement of the subjects of this land and those of POK without any fear and restrictions as also of the opinion that there should be free trade amongst the traders of the both sides of LOC. Not only this, since each others' relations reside on both the sides of the LOC, they should be at liberty to meet freely without any embargo on this score. Since he is the pleader of Kashmir cause after his father Moulvi Farooq who never shared any power like Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah and the Muftis. The Union Government should try to mould him positively to clinch the issue involved thereby adopting the policy and approach of Atal Behari Vajpayee which he showed during the days when he was ruling the country as the PM. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq as per his body chemistry and his deeds and actions look like a seasoned personality of the valley who never comes in the aggressive mood and in the past he has not spoken any derogatory words against any National leader of stature except pleading for the Kashmir cause. Since Geelani has finished his inning in Kashmir field thereby keeping an eye on Pakistan but not on making the welfare of the masses of Kashmir as a whole. Pertinent to mention here that those who had gone to that side from the valley for a short span, they have realized that they are hundred and hundred times better than those who live on that side of LOC permanently where no total freedom prevails as in our state. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq should rise to the occasion and keeping in view the sufferings faced by the general masses of Kashmir in the past and for the furthering of their up liftment so as to enable them to pass their lives in a meaningful and dignified manner while remaining in the ambit of Indian Constitution. If he has something new and feasible both for the country and the people of this land, he should have the courage and strength to project the same to the Union Government for consideration on priority. It looks that whatever he will plead in the best interests of the country, the Central Government would get the utmost attention in order to clinch the issue (s) once for all. He is sharp in his activities and vocal in the sense that he is not afraid of any body and whatever he is to say, he speaks before the masses fearlessly and with sufficient reasoning's. Since he is a moderate and always keeps his options open for conviction and he is still to play a long inning in the field of politics as also for the welfare of the poor masses of the valley. He should rise to the occasion and do practically something extraordinary for the overall benefits of Kashmiri community and also expose who remained in power since 1947 in the state. He should also interact with other intellectuals of the valley so as to make it possible to crack the nuts who are creating obstructions in the settlement of Kashmir issue while remaining within the frame work of Indian Constitution. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq may be able to contribute in taking the things to the logical conclusion in the best interests of the country without any further loss of time. Not only this the people are fed up actually with the shut downs in the valley at the instance of Syed Ali Shah Geelani time and again. They are in fix as what to do ? Time and tide wait for none and time is a great healer and one should respect the time always. The valley people should rise to the occasion and en cash whatever possible from Modi government which is well determined to settle the Kashmir issue for ever. The leaders of moderate and staunch factions of Hurriayat (headed by MIrwaiz Umar Farooq) are in favour of the talks with the Union Government. Whereas old stalwart of the Hurriayat Amalgamation staunch Ali Shah Geelani is inflicted with serious ailments undergoing medical treatment, is at the fag end of his active public life of more than sixty years pleading the cause of Kashmiris. Not the AZADI but short of it, while remaining within the ambit of Indian Constitution may be thought for by the Central Government in the very interests of the nation as a whole. Now the present National Government led by Narender Modi is very much serious to clinch the Kashmir tangle once for all at the earliest possible. Apart from the state set up, the separatists groups and other outfits have much influence over the people. Ali Shah Geelani who remained at the helm of affairs in exploiting the valley people for joining with Pakistan for ever. Since he has already outlived his field work and is facing the numerous ailments, he needs total rest. He kept the Kashmir issue alive with the help of Pakistan since Independence. Nonetheless, the Abdulahs and Mehbooba Mufti are also in favour of the talks and on the other side the Governor of the state Satya Pal Malik is governing the state well according to his wisdom and caliber and is delibering the goods to the people of the state. Let the Government of India (GOI) takes the new initiatives involving the Kashmir centric leaders, Hurriayat Amalgamation and the Separatists for an early settlement of the issue involved.
