Gandola burglary case solved, Rs 39 recovered

BARAMULLA (GULMARG), July 2: In a major breakthrough, a burglary case of Gulmarg Gandola was solved within a week's time. Of Rs 51 Lakh 39 Lakh have been recovered so far. While police also claimed arrest of five persons including an employee of Cable Car Corporation, which were involved in a theft case.
In a press conference Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Baramulla Abdul Qayoom told media that GGP State Cable Car Corporation Limited Suhail Bashir Manager informed Police Station Gulmarg that cash amounting to Rs 51 Lacs has been stolen during the intervening night of 23/ 24-06-2019.
Following the information, Police registered a case in Police Station Gulmarg under an FIR No 5/2019 u/s 457, 380 RPC and started investigation.
"After completing legal formalities, Police inspected all available CCTV footage around Gulmarg bowl and noticed some suspicious movements around the place of occurrence and one of the suspects were identified as Bashir Ahmad Shah alias MLA son of Ghulam Mohammad Shah of Gund Dalwach," Said SSP.
Top police official said that, after completion of investigations, suspect was apprehended, and upon his sustained questioning confesses to having committed the crime.
He also identified four more accomplices that were part of the burglary as Abdul Ahad Ganie S/O of Abdul Rehman Ganie R/O Hardichloo an employee of Cable Car Corporation, Abdul Majeed Lone S/O Ghulam Ahmad Lone R/O Chanpora, Imtiyaz Bhat S/O Ghulam Qadir R/O Hardichloo, and Manzoor Ahmad Sheikh S/O Mohammad Abdullah of Chuntipathri.
All the other suspects were arrested and on their disclosures cash amounting to 39 Lakhs out of Rs 51 Lakh have been recovered so far, SSP informed media.
He further said that the investigation have revealed that Abdul Ahad Ganai as the mastermind of the burglary who hatched the whole plan also provided vital information to the group how to execute the plan and the layout of the cashier room.
FIRs have been also registered on the two of the suspects namely Imtiyaz and Majeed Lone, who are involved in multiple burglaries in the area, SSP Baramulla added.
It is pertinent to mention here, on the intervening night of June 23 and 24, burglars struck at cash counter cum account room at Gulmarg Gondola and looted cash of Rs 51 lakh by breaking into the fire-cum-bullet-proof cash chest.
