srinagar, July 4: The first batch of 304 pilgrims from different parts of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday left Srinagar International Airport for Saudi Arabia for performing annual the holy pilgrimage of Hajj-2019.
Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik and his advisors, who were present at the airport, expressed the hope that the pilgrimage will be successful and bring peace and prosperity to the state.
The pilgrims, before boarding the flight, said they will pray for restoration of peace in the valley, where violence has claimed thousands of lives.
According to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the State Hajj Committee (SHC) Abdul Salaam said that a total of 11,700 pilgrims from all parts of the state would perform Hajj in holy cities of Makkah and Madina. However, among the pilgrims, 750 have opted to embark from New Delhi, he said. The Hajj flights will operate daily till July 29, he added.
He said 30 pilgrims from J&K left in two Spice Jet flights from Srinagar International Airport for Saudi Arabia today. The pilgrims had arrived at Hajj House Bemina, where they were provided all travel and other documents besides exchange of money facility.
