In the video, Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Malik can be seen accepting a bundle of currency notes from an unidentified employee.
Taking cognizance of the video, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Khan, told Early Times that he attached the said official with his office and ordered an enquiry.
"I have attached him with my office and ordered an enquiry. Action as warranted under law would be taken against him will be taken," he said.
The Divisional Commissioner has also forwarded a copy of the video to SSP Crime Branch for necessary action
Sources told Early Times that the officer was receiving bribe for allowing illegal constructions in the town "After receiving bribes, the officer directed his field to allow the constructions in the town. He in league with his subordinate staff earned huge amounts from those people who are constructing illegal structures in the town," said sources.
As reported earlier, massive constructions have came up in Anantnag town illegally on the state land as well on river banks.
"Authorities at Municipal Council Anantnag have allowed construction of shopping complexes on state land and river banks after receiving hefty amount from the owners," they revealed.
Executive Officer Municipal Council Anantnag who was caught on tape accepting bribe has issued number of building permissions without holding BOCA meetings.
A number of copies of such permissions are available with Early Times and the issue was highlighted last month by this newspaper.
In 2015, an inquiry committee constituted by the Urban Local Bodies Department had ordered to recover an amount of Rs, 2,25,000 from the officer who was then In-charge Executive Officer Municipal Committee Kupwara.
The committee in its report had also advised the directorate of the department shall not assign non-sensitive work to him.
