Early Times Report

Jammu, July 5: Giving dent to the much-hyped campaign "Swachh Bharat Mission" announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP corporators and MLAs are leaving no stone unturned to make the campaign a flop show in Jammu as most of areas has been reeling under severe civic amenities particular sanitation since BJP come to power.
Munish Gupta, Editor Early times who would be contesting assembly election as independent candidates from Gandhi Nagar constituency, during his campaign on Friday reached Sanjay Nagar Extension area where he met people from all walks of life and gave them a patient hearing.
Jasmail Singh, resident of Sanjay Nagar Sec 4, told Munish Gupta that "our drains are chocked, garbage is littered here and there due to absence of any dustbin, lanes and by lanes are not constructed or repaired since long time. It is the picture of our areas, and its credit only goes to local councillor Dewaraka Choudhary and former MLA Kavinder Gupta whom before election made tall promises over cleanliness but after getting elected, they forget our miseries." "Streetlights are lying defunct, low voltage and erratic power curtailment are common problems that are plaguing the whole locality, but MLA and local councillor never give attention to our miseries despite repeated pleas", said Mohinder Singh, ex-Sarpanch Digaina. He said that "our lane which connects nearly 200 houses from Kalsi Ground to Sanjay Nagar, has not been constructed for last 25 years. Before election either Raman Bhalla or Kavinder Gupta assured us that our lane would be constructed on priority basis but after getting elected neither Congress and BJP started its renovation, as a result potholes, dugout lanes, drains are creating problems." Sukvinder Kour, Ravinder Singh, Satwinder Singh, Gurupreet Kour and Manpreet Kour are the residents of locality who have been residing here from years but still not registered in electoral list. "Due to absence of civic amenities, anger is brewing among the residents of Sanjay Nagar Sec 4. Both Congress and BJP leaders have miserably failed to provide even basic amenities like water, electricity and lane and drains", said Ram Payari. "Both Congress and BJP have no concern for our locality. They are bothered only for those who have been living in posh areas of Gandhi Nagar and Trikuta Nagar where already lot of civic amenities are present," said Bitnam Singh.
