RS Pura, July 6: In order to make construction workers residing in far flung areas aware about various welfare schemes presently operated by the Labour department, an awareness camp was today organised at Rs Pura, in district Jammu. The aim of the program was to reach labourers, workers residing in far flung areas of the District and to make them aware regarding various schemes of the Department especially Pradhan Mantri Shram-Yogi Maandhan (PMSYM), voluntary pension scheme, Child Labour and Building and Other Construction Workers (BOCW). During the programme, various departmental field functionaries delivered lectures on the concerned topics. Labour unions presented their charter of demands before the district administration for early redressal. Speaking on the occasion, the Assistant Labour Commissioner (ALC) Renu Bala Saini, highlighted various schemes being implemented for the benefit of workers in the district. She also impressed upon the workers to get registered with the Labour Department for availing the benefits under various state and centrally sponsored schemes. She said that this function was a small gesture to acknowledge the contribution of workers in the society. The function was attended by Assistant Information Officer, and other labour unions, various Sarpanchs and Panchs. |
