Early Times Report
KATHUA, July 7:- Power Development Department's (PDD) EM&RE Division, today intensified its enforcement drive against power theft and pilferage at various locations of Kathua Division.
The drive was conducted under the superintendence of Deputy Commissioner, Dr Raghav Langar in Nagri and Hiranagar areas.
Several inspection Teams, under the guidance of Executive Engineer PDD, Mohammad Shafi and consisting of field staff conducted inspections in Nagri and Hiranagar areas to check the illegal use of power.
During the inspection in Nagri area, a total of 153 Heaters were seized and 6 illegal connections were disconnected.
Meanwhile, the DC informed that the ongoing drive will also get luanched at Sub Division level and all the SDMs have been directed to support the concerned AEEs in this endeavour of judicious power use. He also said that such inspection drives will be made a regular feature and no one indulging in power theft will be spared.
All defaulters will be penalised under appropriate clauses of J&K State Electricity Act, the DC warned and added that it is not the duty of PDD only to regulate power but everybody should contribute towards judicious use of power to save electricity.
"Avoiding heaters, limited use of Air Conditioners and abstaining from illegal connections were few strides which we all can take to save electricity and regulate power in our area," the DC appealed.
