Five sport climbers to represent country in the World Youth C'ship

Jammu, July 7: Five sport climbers of Mountaineering Association of J&K namely Shivani Charak, Ajay Deep Singh, Arun Deep Singh, Mrityunjay Sharma and Shilpa Charak have been selected by Indian Mountaineering Foundation, New Delhi, the apex body for mountaineering and sport climbing in the country, to represent the country in the World Youth Championship scheduled to be held at Arco, Italy from from 22 August to 31 August,2019.They are among the 18 members selected from throughout the country for this global competition. While Shivani and Shilpa have been selected to compete in the Junior Women category (18-19 years)Ajay Deep Singh and Arun Deep Singh shall participate in Boys-A category(16-17 years) and Mrityunjay Sharma has been selected for Junior Men category competition. It may be mentioned that all the five climbers are accomplished sport climbers of the country. While Shivani Charak and Ajay Deep Singh are top ranked sport climbers of the country Arun Deep Singh is ranked 3rd, Shilpa ranked 8th and Mrityunjay is also ranked among the top 10 climbers in the senior men category.
Accordingly, Mountaineering Association of J&K requests the J&K State Sports Council to sponsor J&K climbers for the global event so that they are bring laurels to the country and the state. Meanwhile, Ashwani Sharma, Former MLAand Patron of Tawi Trekkers J&K, Zorawar Singh Jamwal, Secretary General Press Club, Jammu and Chairman, Team Jammu, Ram Khajuria and Shawetica Khajuria, General Secretary and Jt. Secretary of Mountaineering Association of J&K, Prof. Lalit Magotra, President Dogri Sanstha, Jammu, Rahul Sharma, Chairman Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Jammu and S Bhattacharjee, Chairman, Indian Mountaineering Foundation North Zone Committee, New Delhi have congratulated the climbers for their selection for the prestigious global competition.
