Annual Sarthal Devi Ji Yatra begins amid religious fervor, gaiety at Kishtwar

KISHTWAR, July 9: The historic Annual Yatra of Shri Ashtadash Bhuja Mata Sarthal Devi Ji Yatra began amid religious fervor and gaiety here early this morning. The yatra began with a mega Hawan at Gori Shankar Mandir, Sarkoot where devotees offered "Aahuti & Puran Aahuti (culmination)."
Starting from Gori Shankar Mandir, an impressive Shoba yatra accompanied the Chari Mubarak which passed through Chowgan ground, Sheedhi Chowk and Bus stand.
Thousand of devotees including men, women and children were seen chanting religious slogans and bhajans with the bhajjan mandalis and traditional drum beatings throughout the routes.
The locals of various localities accorded warm welcome to Chari Mubarak and organized a stall of Prashad and Sharbat for the yatris.
At Bus Stand the devotees boarded Buses and other vehicles and left for the historic Sarthal Devi Temple Kishtwar.Tomorrow morning a MahaYajna will be performed at Sarthal Devi Mandir.
District administration and police have made all necessary arrangements of Security, drinking water, power supply, transport and other facilities at Sarthal and Kishtwar for the devotees.
Sarthal Devi Ji is the "Kul Devi' of the area. Every holy ceremony is started with the blessings of Mata. The historic yatra is organized every year since Dogra Regime and every devotee has unique faith in the yatra.
The yatra is being orgainsed by Shri Sarthal Devi Ji Trust under the patronage of Dr. Karan Singh, sole trustee and Vikarmaditya Singh Chairman Trustee of the Trust. Besides hundreds of devotees, the yatra was accompanied by DDC Angrez Singh Rana, SSP Shakti Kumar Pathak, ASP Nasir Ahmed, Former Cabinet Minister Sunil Sharma, President Santan Dharma Sabha Hans Raj Bhutyal and Vice Chairman Shri Sarthal Devi Ji Trust, Sanjeev Parihar and others.
