Early Times Report

Sunderbani, July 9: Taking strong note of a news item titled "Patwari demands Rs 25,000 for registration of land" published in Early Times newspaper in today's edition, the Additional Deputy Commissioner Sunderbani attached Patwari Halqa Pajwal Shafiq Ahmad with his office till further inquiry.
The ADC Sunderbani Vinod Kumar issued an order ADC order (ADCSB/ 2019-20/ 34 dated 9-7-2019) for attachment Patwari Shafiq Ahmad over corruption charges with his office and directed the Tehsildar Siot Dhruv Gupta to conduct inquiry of the matter and submit the report within three days. Meanwhile, Patwari Mohammad Azeem was given additional charge in place of Shafiq Ahmad.
Locals alleged that ADC Sunderbani should have suspended the alleged Patwari instead of his attachment as there was enough evidence of demanding corruption of Rs 25,000 for registration of land which has been recorded by the complainant Rakesh Kumar through telephonically conversation.
Pertinently, one Rakesh Kumar, a retired serviceman from Indian Army, resident of Barnara had purchased a piece of land measuring 4 marlas from Yash Pal son of Nanak Chand resident of Sunderbani in the name of his wife. He moved an application with Tehsildar Sunberbani for getting registered the land in the name of his wife on 19-06-2019 and deposited fee of Rs 850 (GR No. A-2156764) with the department but concerned Patwari Pajwal area Shafiq Ahmad demanded Rs 25000 from me for the registration.
