DDC reviews implementation of PMEGP

KATHUA, July 9: The District Level Task Force Committee headed by District Development Commissioner, Dr Raghav Langer today reviewed various issues with regard to the implementation of Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) and the received proposals.
The committee discussed eligibility to apply for establishment of project, besides case to case file for the viability of the project, the methodology of identification of beneficiaries in order to maintain transparency, the mechanism adopted by each agency to avoid frivolous applications, the plan chalked out by each agency about the equitable distribution of project area wise.
Other points discussed in the meeting included maintaining coordination of sponsoring agencies with banks, justification of the project cost in order to avoid exaggeration in the project costs by the applicant with a view to grab/avail high amount of subsidy and to have a discourse on monitoring of projects authorized by DLTFC.
Giving directions for effective implementation of PMEGP, the DDC said that coordination among different stakeholders is prerequisite to devise a proper mechanism for identification of actual beneficiaries. He asked for preliminary scrutiny of the cases at agency level and said that maximum youth should be covered under the scheme in the district. Meanwhile, 320 cases were presented before the committee who of which 110 belongs to DIC whereas, 210 pertains to KVIB.
Among others, the meeting was attended by ADDC, Dr. Shubra Sharma, ACD, Sukhpal Singh, General Manager DIC, Babu Ram, District Officer KVIB, Principal ITI, bankers and other concerned were also present in the meeting.
