India tells UN rights body that Pakistan be blamed for violence in Kashmir
7/10/2019 8:20:29 PM
Aster the UN Rights office berated India and Pakistan for not having been able to improve the situation in Kashmir India has lodged a strong protest with the UN rights office over its report on the situation in Jammu and Kashmir while claiming that the document is a continuation of the earlier "false and motivated" narrative and ignores the core issue of terrorism emanating from Pakistan. Hitting out at the UN report, Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said in New Delhi that the update of the earlier OHCHR report is "merely a continuation of the earlier false and motivated narrative" on the situation in Jammu and Kashmir. The report's assertions are in violation of India's sovereignty and territorial integrity and ignore the core issue of cross-border terrorism, he said in response to media queries on the report.
"A situation created by years of cross-border terrorist attacks emanating from Pakistan has been 'analysed' without any reference to its causality," Kumar said. The update seems to be a contrived effort to create an artificial parity between the world's largest and the most vibrant democracy and a country that openly practices state-sponsored terrorism," he said India also reminded the UN rights office that for the last three years New Delhi has been approaching Pakistan that it should stop export of terror to India and that could help India to resume the bilateral talks.
But India has complained to the UN body that neither Pakistan stops ceasefire violations nor ends export of terror which is the root cause of friction between the two sides. India has conveyed to the UN that New Delhi is willing to restart bilateral dialogue for settling the main issues. The main issues have been left undecided by the stubborn face of Pakistan. This is a cause of conflict between the two sides. India also has conveyed to the UN rights body that once talks were held bilaterally there is a possibility of promoting peace. It has held the UN responsible for its non-intervention by supporting Pakistan for the anti-India role that Pakistan has been playing by sending militants into Kashmir. Once talks are held peace could be the end result.
