Early Times Report

Srinagar, July 10: As the annual Amarnath Yatra has already commenced and weather plays a significant role in trekking the hilltop, the Meteorological department has predicted a short spell of rain in parts of Baltal and Chandiwari- the only routes towards the holy cave, during the next 12 hours.
The MeT spokesman said that throughout the Yatra route, there are chances of a short spell of rains in isolated places. "Although chances are less, the spokesman said. "No significant weather for next 12 hours," he added.
The annual Yatra started on the first date for this month and is scheduled to end after forty-five days.
On Wednesday, a batch of 5,273 pilgrims left Jammu for the Kashmir Valley to perform the Yatra. Till date, over 1.2 lakh pilgrims have paid their obeisance.
