Early Times Report

JAMMU, July 15: Hundreds of parents of the children studying in private schools of Jammu under the banner of Dogra Sangathan/ Parents Association of Private schools led by its President Amit Kapoor held a massive demonstration outside the office of Director School Education Jammu for its failure to implement the orders of High Court of J&K as well as of the Fee Fixation Committee in the matter of Fee Fixation by the Private Schools.
The agitating parents also blocked the Jammu Akhnoor National High way to express their resentment against the schools misleading and pressurizing the parents. DB of the J&K High Court in its order dated 18.03.2019 had directed the private schools to refund whole of the excess Fee charged after 01/08/2014 along with interest @ 9 percent.
Few schools have committed an offence of cheating and deceiving the parents by not only displaying dishonestly and fraudulently the unauthorized increased Fee structure without proper approval from the FFC, but are also telephonically threatening the parents in the name of excessive late fees in case the same is not deposited at the earliest.
The Association President claimed to have few Audio recordings as evidence against such mischievous elements of the society. One old CBSE affiliated school situated in Domana has displayed on its website a letter dated 29.01.2019 from the FFC, pretending it as an approval from the FFC; whereas, as per this letter of the FFC, schools were directed to proceed strictly as per the directions contained in the FFC Circular No. 1 dated 28.01.2019 and directions contained in this Circular No. 1 dated 28.01.2019 are as follows.
Kapoor forcefully made an appeal to all the parents not to pay any Fee, till the schools get a clear and authentic approval from the FFC.
He explained further, that approval from the FFC is mandatory for all the schools, irrespective of the amount of FEE they are charging from the parents.
The Fee Fixation Committee Vide its Circular No.1 of 28.01.2019 had directed all private schools to get its Fee structure approved from the FFC within one month and only those schools can increase their Fee maximum up to 6% if they are already charging monthly Tuition Fee of less than Rs. 1000/- and Annual Charges of maximum Rs. 6000/- Thus such schools have committed an offence of criminal breach of trust and playing fraud with the students, parents & public authorities just to make profit and this act amounts to cheating the parents/ students and also to pay disrespect to the orders of the Hon'ble High Court and Fee Fixation Committee.
