After 5 yrs, BJP remembers lone was separatist Bilal's younger brother

Early Times Report

Jammu, July 16: Things for one time BJP's favourite Sajad Lone are only getting nasty with each passing day as the saffron party hinted at dashing his dreams of becoming its ally in future.
According to the report published by a New Delhi based newspaper quoting senior BJP leader, the party has decided not to align with Sajad Lone's Peoples Conference. "Our party leaders raised objection that how can we give ministry to Sajjad from our quota as his brother is a senior separatist leader. We won't join hands with anybody, who in past or present has any truck with separatist elements. What has happened in 2014 cannot be repeated in 2019," the senior leader was quoted as having said.
Earlier, on November 22, last year-a day after Governor Satya Pal Malik dissolved the Jammu and Kashmir assembly-Peoples Conference Chairman Sajad Gani Lone had reiterated that his party had adequate numbers to form the government in the state.
Lone, who served as cabinet minister in previous BJP-PDP coalition in the state, claimed that he wrote letter to the Governor, staking claim for the formation of the government only after he was sure that he had enough numbers in the kitty. "I don't know about PDP and NC but we had numbers to form the government. Now when we have accepted Governor's decision to dissolve the assembly, the PDP which is making cry of a thief should move the court of law," Sajad said at that time.
With state elections being held in the state likely by the end of this year, chances are high that an interesting situation would emerge in state's political scenario.
On one side is the PDP which is facing a major rebellion within its ranks and on the other side is the national conference that claims to be winning the polls with thumping majority.
Also, Peoples Conference led by Sajad Gani Lone and a third front from former IAS Official Shah Faesal has made the situation lofty to keep an eye on.
BJP toppled the government in the state and took away support from its coalition partner PDP on June 19, last year when leaders of the former congregated at New Delhi and announced withdrawal of support in a press conference. State of Jammu and Kashmir came under Governor's rule the next day- June 20 last year. Speculations were rife later that various political groups are holding insidious talks with the BJP to form the government. Amongst them was the rebel group of the PDP led by Imran Ansari and his uncle Abid Ansari. There were also couple of MLCs of the party who publicly announced their support to the rebel group who later joined Sajad Lone's Peoples Conference.
