Jammu, July 17: Expressing their strong resentment against the BJP and Congress for making only tall claims, the residents of Nanak Nagar Sec 5-9 said that the sheer ignorance of the leaders for redressing their civic issues, they have been facing huge difficulties in their daily life.
Continuing his mass contact programme for contesting assembly elections from Gandhi Nagar Constituency as an independent candidate, Munish Gupta, Editor Early Times today met the residents of Nanak Nagar sec 5-9 and some part of Shastri Nagar and informed them about his vision and objective.
"It has been observed that the no serious cleaning of lanes and drains is done by the concerned authority restricting it to only as a ritual. There is no need for such kind of cosmetic cleaning of lanes and drains. The department should stop making fool to the people and should do some serious work. The blocked drains emanate foul smell creating inconvenience for the locals . The stray dogs have created menace in the area and department has turned deaf ears to our plight. The defunct street lights were never repaired. The heaps of garbage piling up at various place in the area which remain unattended for days," said Chander Prabha, Anjana, Gurmeet Kour, Sandeep, Anil Gupta.
Raising the issue of dilapidated road, the residents alleged that substandard material was used in black topping which has now started going off which is serious issue but nobody is bothered to take note of it. "The public money is being misused by the department by using substandard material for road blacktopping. It is very shocking that no quality check is done by the department so that the road may have long life. Only cosmetic work is done in the name of development," said Ashok Kumar, Ramesh Choudhary, Ramesh Gupta, Sonu, Jeewan, Jagdish Gupta.
The residents also alleged that the main drain being not covered with net, the people dump garbage in the nullaha, which choke it. "Side walls of drain should be raised to maximum height and then it should be covered with net so that garbage thrown by the people be stopped," and Kamlesh an elderly woman, Pankaj Sharma and Rajat.
