Early Times Report

UDHAMPUR, July 18: Under the nose of authorities concerned, the cement manufacturing industries here are playing with the health of the people and are polluting environment by not following norms.
Locals informed that these industries leave a lot of smoke into the air and dirty water into the water bodies and work for 24 hours approximately while they have permission of only working for 16 hours but this permitted only for two industries like Uma and Shri Ram but all The industries used night time for working
Experts said that pollutants released by cement industries cause deadly diseases linked to lungs and may also cause cancer. Surprisingly Pollution Control Board (PCB) has so far not taken any cognizance of this.
Sources informed that these industries pay illegal graft to the helmsmen in Concerned authorities so action is avoided.
Meanwhile, traders at Battal Ballian have complained that big trucks of these industries remain stationed at the road thereby making problems for other vehicles and prevent customers to visit shops. Those living in close vicinity of these industries complained that they have tough time due to noise and smoke coming out of these industries round the clock. Locals have asked the department of Industries and Commerce to conduct a surprise check at these industries to see the violations themselves.
When contacted dc Udhampur Piyush singla said that I have already compiled a commety for checking the pollution and specialy to PCb but I will look into the matter personally.
